The following are our greatest need for volunteers:
Children's Activities Volunteer
Provide support and guidance to infants and children of shelter residents.
Supervise and plan activities both in-house and out. Range of activities
includes: teaching art and crafts, playing games, reading storybooks, leading
songs and supervising field trips. (weekday evenings)
Crisis Line Advocate
Answer crisis line and provide crisis counseling to women in need. Provide support to clients by offering advocacy, resources, agency information, and referrals. (weekdays, 9am-5pm)
Translation
Provide translation for monolingual women (Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese, Mandarin, etc.) during support groups. (weekday evenings)
Food Bank
Weekly shopping at the San Francisco Food Bank for shelter. Must have a valid California Driver's License and feel comfortable driving shelter van. (weekdays, 9am-5pm)
Administrative/Clerical
Support staff in a variety of office/administrative tasks. These tasks include planning for special events, recording client statistics, and preparing for large mailings. Specific duties may include supporting the Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting volunteers and organizing volunteer activities. (weekdays, 9am-5pm)
